Dr. Abd Assalam Qannus, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine (Clinical Series Track) at the University of Arizona. His research interests focus on diabetes management after kidney transplant, frailty in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and kidney transplant patients, and the posttransplant recurrence of primary glomerulonephritis. Dr. Qannus earned his medical degree from Damascus University in Syria (1999-2006) and completed his Internal Medicine residency through the Arab Board Program (2007-2008), followed by additional residency training at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) from 2010-2014. He further advanced his expertise with a Nephrology Fellowship at both the American University of Beirut Medical Center (2015-2017) and Maine Medical Center, Tufts University (2017-2019). Dr. Qannus then completed specialized training with a Nephrology Transplant Fellowship at the University of Kansas Health System (2019-2020) and a Geriatrics Fellowship at the same institution (2020-2021).
